round

Sen (Yao) is employed as an engineer to help Seattle keep their lights on and cell phones charged. He majored in Electrical Engineering from Seattle Pacific University, where he also earned a minor in Global and Urban Ministries. Sen has a passion for sharing God’s grace and love with young people, and empowering them to do the same for others. His life goal is to combine his life passions: engineering and discipleship, into one profession. He knows it’ll happen, too. He lives in Shoreline, WA with his wife Megan, and daughter Abbie.

Karen Saechao

Vice-Chair

Karen was born and raised in Sacramento, CA. She fell in love with Jesus at age 17 and her life was never the same again. She is graduate from Azusa Pacific University holding a Master of Arts in Management, Organizational Development and Change. She cooks plenty, travels often, and takes quite a bit of photos (follow her on IG @Kay_ess). She wants to utilize her skills to do what God has called her to do – to walk people through change and speak life into the vulnerable. With a heart for the Mienh people, Karen aspires to bring hope to her community and share the same joy that she receives from Christ alone. Karen currently lives in Seattle, WA with her awesome housemates and serves the homeless population in Seattle.

Michael Chao

Ministry Director

Michael is employed as a Fraud Analyst for JHA that works for 1000+ Banks/Credit Unions to prevent/stop fraud on credit/debit cards. He studied Religion & Philosophy at Northwest University, minored in Youth Ministry and Biblical Studies. He should have double majored on one of his minors, but he wanted to graduate that bad. He received his MBA from University of Phoenix (not planned) because while working there as a Financial Aid guy, he learned that tuitions for employees were free! The Great Commission commands Christians to reach the nations and to baptize them. It’s the second part that he has developed a burden for: discipling. People are becoming Christians, but very few are living with Jesus as their Lord. Michael lives in Sacramento, CA with his wife Fawm and wants to start a family.

Why do you serve the MCYA audience?

Growing up as the first child, his dad expected a lot from him. It was mandatory that he learned to speak, read, and write in Mienh (Roman Script) and that he understood the culture. Well, he’s also an American… US born. MCYA’s audience are the next generation of the Mienh community. Seems like a fit.

David Saelee

Director of People & Community

David was born in Visalia, CA but lived a little over a decade in Seattle, WA (from age 4-15) prior to settling back in Central California today. Due to his transient upbringing, he was blessed with the opportunity to be part of different church communities, for years at a time, and has experienced God working consistently in various Mien communities. He majored in Criminology and Restorative Justice, which opened the door for him to work for four years at Fresno County’s Probation Department as a Technician and Officer. While working in the Criminal Justice field, God opened his eyes and heart to care and root for rehabilitation in those considered to be hopeless criminals by society, yet valued and loved by God. David currently works as a Deputy Public Guardian for Tulare County and is serving the vulnerable adult population while protecting them from financial/criminal abuse or neglect.

Why do you serve the MCYA audience?

God used MCYA to reach me throughout my adolescence. Even during years where I started to stray as a late teen, His grace found me through the community of MCYA. If God can use someone as flawed as I am for his glory, I remain confident that he can do so much more with young people out there who don’t even realize it.
